Embracing the Confluence of Planning: Transcending the Bias for Action

Hello Innovators,

In our rapidly evolving era, where immediacy often eclipses the grandeur of intent, an aggressive bias for action often overshadows the art of contemplation and planning. As someone who has worked between users and creators, I've come to appreciate the inherent need and necessity of inclusive planning.
Let me share with you why resisting the allure of immediate action can lead to more profound, sustainable, and impactful outcomes.

1.Design as a Living Organism
Every design, whether a building, a wearable, or a project, is akin to a living organism. Just as you wouldn't expect an organism to function without each organ playing its part, a project cannot reach its potential without every element working in harmony. This harmony is achieved not by rushing into action but by deliberate and thoughtful planning.

2. The Seductive Illusion of Immediate Results
Instant results are enticing. In a world that celebrates instant gratification, pausing to strategize might feel counterintuitive. But diving headfirst into a project can often lead to superficial, incomplete outcomes. In my work, between the constraints of the user’s needs and the particular environment’s demands, the required depth and breadth of understanding cannot be bypassed for quick outcomes. All projects need to meet requirements and have thoughtful planning to provide a solid and practical foundation to be viable.

3. Integrative Approaches Demand Deliberation
Interdisciplinary projects demand an integrative approach, especially those at the nexus of seemingly disparate fields. Without meticulous planning, there is a heightened risk of overlooking critical assumptions. By resisting the urge to act impulsively, we create room for false expectations or inexperienced beliefs to reveal themselves, enriching the conversation between colleagues and clearing a space for a thorough understanding, leading to a more creative and innovative solution.

4. Sustainability and Thoughtfulness are Inextricable
Our planet and its resources are not infinite. As creators, it's our responsibility to act with intention and thoughtfulness. Hasty actions can lead to wastage in terms of material and originality. On the other hand, planning allows us to forecast, predict, and adjust. Conversely, planning is sustainable in the truest sense.

5.The Elegance of Evolution

Nature doesn't rush, yet everything gets accomplished. Just as a tree doesn't sprout overnight, meaningful projects need time to evolve. Planning offers the project space to breathe, grow, and adapt, leading to outcomes that are not just effective but also elegant.

While the world might push us towards constant action, there is immeasurable strength in pausing, reflecting, and planning. As creators and innovators, our responsibility isn't just to produce but to produce with intention, thoughtfulness, and foresight.
Warm Regards,
Cherise
